Both machine:stitch and needle:knit seem right . however, i think needle:knit is right because (1) machine is too broad a word
(2) people WORK ON THE loom to weave just as they WORK WITH THE needle to knit. a machine can very well work by itself….

machine:stitch
Loom is a machine used for weaving yarn or thread into textile.
similarly, machine is used for stitching fabrics.

needle: knit
definitely
machine is too general, you can also stitch by hand
if it was needle/pin: stitch, then it would work.
