Meaning:
To pardon or remit

Example:
“The priest absolved him and told him to say ten Hail Mary’s”
“I absolve you from this responsibility”

butress is the answer besacuse in this sentence it’s verb form of action arrives implies make stronger or defensible..as they have encounttered errors in their work they tried to defend them or make strong that they were correct with dubious data.
