‘Supported by… evidence’ shows that 2 parts of the given sentence are expressing the same idea. i.e. ‘x’ Arts and ‘y’ science are inversely related and mutually exclusive.

Now look for a contextually inverse relation between words and make sure you eliminate. Never select an answer.

The answer is B.

The two blanks are inverse proportional.
