When ticket sales began Pat was the nth customer in the line for a ticket and a customer purchased their tickets at the rate of X customer per minute of the following which approximates the time in minute that Pat had to wait in line from the moment ticket sales began?
a)(n-1)x
b)n+x-1
c)n-1/x
d)x/n-1
e)n/x-1

ans is A(n-1)/x
The answer is (n-1)/x.. Well some typo in the choices given
Ans is C, (n-1)/x
Actually correct answer is not there in the options……..
but all of us are correct ………(n-1)/x
C is not the answer ….. n-1/x is different than (n-1)/x
It should be C. Just follow the units properly and apply common sense.
@elshirazi: dude see the options properly…A is not (n-1)/x..its (n-1)x…
the answer is c…ppl pls see the options properly before commentin…u’ll confuse other readers also…
Arun actually meant C… not A
n = number of customers in line [=] # of customers
x [=] customers / minute.
Formula for time = (# of customers) / (customers/minute)
# of customers remaining in line = n – 1
Thus, time remaining = (n-1) / x
The answer is A.
guys there is a diff between option C & A. C= n-1/x and A. (n-1)/x the brackets make all the difference.
The answer is C…. (n-1)/x
It goes like this:
The rate is X customers per minute.
so.. 1 customer will take 1/X minutes.
Before Pat, there are n-1 customers waiting in queque,
so, time taken by them before the turn of pat approaches will be
(n-1)/x
So, the correct answer to this question is C.
@ Jinal: (n-1)/x is A not C. And i think its A too.
C. (n-1)/x
