something offhand is spontaneous and lacks forethought; through the process of elimination answer ‘B’ is the only one that might make some sense because the others don’t at all. This is a tough cookie

I thought it should be D… ingenious = inventive skill, talent = inborn… hence opposite…

offhand means lack of forethought… offhand means extemporaneous (lack of forethought/preparation), with this realtion we can eliminate all the choices except B, so answer would be B.
