1) I’ve never heard the word “jurisprudence”

2) I know what “dogged” means…

3) I know its not A-C, but I dont know what “staid” or “cogent” means

4) I don’t know what “cajole” means

5) I don’t know what “sanctimonious” means

6) I don’t know what sully, pinioned, unfetter, vex, or herald mean!!!!!

How do you guys know what all these words mean? Just from studying a thousand word long word list? Kind of a useless test, then, wouldn’t you agree?

Where should I even begin? Please help!

1) b syntax is the study of grammar, as jurisprudence is the study of law

2) b to surrender is to give in, to be dogged is to persevere tirelessly, so, eliminating all synonyms we are left with b

3) e clarity and lucid share meaning, so e must be the answer (although parts of speech are not similar)

4) a one can “cajole” another into “compliance,” therefore, one could also “lull” another into “trust”

5) d one who is self-righteous (sanctimonious) often acts with hypocrisy, similarly, one who is audacious often acts with boldness

6) b to enlighten is to relieve the ignorant as to unfetter is to relieve the pinioned

7) e a building (undecorated) is to ornate (elaborately decorated) as prose (just straight writing) is to florid (vividly descriptive)
