i would reject A due to the statement…..
enabling experts to ensure the evolution of the horseshoe crab.

acc. to statement it looks as if the horshoe crab is extinct …. not u cannot ensure the evaluation of something just by preserving the fossil …

u can only study the fossil to determine its internal structure .. i.e. reasses it and clarify the previous doubts which might have been obscured earlier …

why not A.

clarified means ,———— then why they need to reasses it.
if they reasses it means already they have discuss the topic many time.

then clarified for the first time means which makes them to do this, not able to judge from sentence, either i m missing somthing very stupid or i need to pratics really hard on SCs.
